The Spotted Sparrow was started in 2008 by Julia Sydnor, an American designer living in North East England. Julia has collected paper since childhood - books, cards, stationery and whatever else she could get her hands on. She studied digital arts and web design at university where she also discovered her love of vintage finds. Julia began using these vintage inspirations in her designs, combining the charm of yesteryear with modern simplicity.

Environmental Commitment

The Spotted Sparrow is highly committed to protecting the environment. You can enjoy beautiful stationery and art prints without sacrificing the health of our planet. The vast majority of Spotted Sparrow products are made with FSC-certified, 100% post-consumer waste, carbon neutral paper that is manufactured with wind power. The rest is made with FSC-certified paper that is manufactured with solar power. We use vegetable based inks in place of their petroleum based counterparts. We source local, environmentally friendly materials and suppliers in an effort to cut down on transportation and fuel costs, as well as to support local businesses. Our products are packaged in biodegradable cornstarch bags, and our shipping material is both recyclable and made from recycled paper.
